This week's Someone You Should Know is Jhen of From Here to Eternity!
I've been reading From Here to Eternity for a while. Recently Jhen signed up to participate in The Whimsy Journal Project here at Skinned Knees! I'm really excited about getting to know Jhen and wanted yall to have the chance to get to know this fabulous lady as well! I had a few questions for Jhen and she happily answered them for us:
The Basics
What made you decide to start your blog 'From Here to Eternity'?
How long have you been blogging?
Technically three years, but it was in the beginning of July of this year that I revamped my blog to form a theme and purpose and I officially entered the world of Blogging.
Where do you hang out in the blogging world?
Around blogs of mommies and photographers and my favorites are mommies who are photographers ;)
The Family
I read the story of how you met your hubby, Jon, and it was so sweet! Could you tell us about it?
We meet in high school. I was a sophomore and he was a junior. We took Algebra II and we were assigned seats next to each other. He made fun of my hot pink converse that I had drawn all over like a teenybopper would. One day he asked to take my homework up to the turn-in basket and I was smitten. I was convinced this act of kindness was because he liked me… later, after many a-homework-turn-ins, I realized he was doing it to copy my assignments…sigh… but on the last day of class, during our final exam, I was slipped a bright orange piece of scrap paper just 10 minutes into the test (that should have been a red flag, but oh well) asking for my phone number. When he walked back, I slipped the paper with my nicest 16 year old handwriting, and three days and an almost date for me with another boy, he called… the rest is history!
What do you and Josselyn do for fun?
Currently, our family only has one car, so Joss and I are mostly stuck at home. But when we do get a vehicle, we make serious adventures to the stores or bookstores (because they are like libraries where you can be loud).
Where do you see your sweet family in 10 years?
I hope to see us in a home on lots of property with animals and a pond, where we can take in children in need of a family and home. Our dream is to fill bedrooms with children and see open fields full of boys and girls playing pretend, running around hiding and seeking, and fishing off a pond dock… oh my, wouldn’t that be wonderful.
About Jhen
When you were a little girl, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be an important business woman who carried a fancy briefcase, wore nice dress suits, and walked the streets of a big city with power… honestly, that’s what I wanted because that’s how I viewed my daddy.
What is your idea of the perfect date with your hubby?
{I’ll close my eyes and imagine this because I know it will be a long ways away till I can get one of these…} A sunset, fall, mountain date on a lake. We’re sitting on reclining deck chairs. The fishing poles are resting on the railing sitting peacefully while the line is patiently waiting for some kind of bite. I’m wrapped in a big comfy blanket (while manly him is just in a jacket) and we’re sipping a cup of hot cocoa. It is quiet and tranquil and it’s just us, alone to talk and vision our future… oh yes please!
Someone just hands you $1000, what do you do with it?
As tempting as it would be, I would put it towards our debt so we can be one step closer to being out on our own.
What are some of your special talents?
I actually sing {and I think, pretty well}. I also write vignettes and mini-plays that I have preformed for special functions and events. And then there’s the art I do with my camera…
What's the worst thing you've ever wasted money on?
My husband can probably provide a LONG list of things for this, but I would say Beauty School. I dropped out after two months and they never gave me a bill until 4 years later {granted when we’re unemployed, homeless and broke}.

Memory of you and Jon:
Our trip to Maine after our miscarriage in 2008. We took a bike ride along the water near our B&B and it was perfect.
Memory of you and Josselyn:
The first night she stopped crying when I brought her close to me in bed for cuddles. She was probably about 3 weeks old.
Fill in the blanks
I'm being featured on the front page of the newspaper today! The article is called:
Woman Rescues Children from Overheating Car {because I will call the cops if I see young children left alone in a vehicle, and trust me, I HAVE}.
I love it when someone tells me
that I have a handsome husband and beautiful daughter.
I remember one time
when I was in college and I was wearing a wrap skirt from Thailand and when I got up to put away my tray , the skirt unwrapped and showed me and my undies in all their glory for the entire cafeteria to see.
I'd be a lot happier
if I got to say “goodbye” and “I love you” one more time.
People need to understand
that you don’t have to be perfect to be able to provide a home and family to children in need, you just need LOVE.
LOVE
really does makes the world go round.
Thank you Jhen for allowing us to learn more about you!
